Janet Sommer is a Music and Documentary Photographer whose work has appeared on numerous CD’s, as well as in newspapers, magazines and books. She has interviewed and written about musicians, and has written book and C.D. reviews.
Janet is the former editor & writer for Eye & Ear, a column for All About Jazz. Her photography has been published in GQ, JazzTimes, Entertainment Weekly and New York Magazine, among others. She spent many years in NYC as a Photo Editor and Researcher, and worked with numerous collections including the CBS Photo Archive, The New York Times collection, and the photographic collection of the Museum of the City of New York. Janet currently lives in Ohio.

Did you ever meet Bill Bennett, a friend out here who previously was very wrapped in the East Coast jazz community, worked on some big Smithsonian jazz project?

Hi Rich,
The name doesn’t ring a bell, but I see there is a Bill Bennett that writes (or has written) for Jazz Times magazine. I guess I must have missed him in my travels. I’d be interested in knowing what he did with the Smithsonian.
